Brandon-san.com started out as a site where I simply sold my sumi-e art. It has grown a bit from that and now has morphed into a blog/art/Iaijutsu site. My art is still for sale, it is just this site has grown to accommodate more of my interests.
A little bit about me. My name is Brandon Burkett and I started MJER Iaijutsu in Dec. 2004. My Sensei’s name is Walt Bushey and his Sensei is Sekiguchi Komei Sensei. I really enjoy Iaijutsu and following the way of the samurai. A couple of my friends at the dojo may post news here as well as me. You may even see Bushey Sensei post every now and then if you are lucky.
I am also the lead developer for Elemental Blend in Lubbock (soon to be Austin), Texas. Web application development is my main focus and I love my work (mix up js/jquery/python/php/mysql in a blender and you will get the idea). In the fall of 2005 I graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in MIS. I also really enjoy data modeling and database design. If you are interested in what I do at work, read this, and I promise you will not be anymore.
I have been married since 2001 and am very lucky to have my wife. Not only has Mandi let me follow my interest in Japanese swordsmanship, but she is training as well (kick boxing).
There are some pics of myself and the dojo on the pictures page and on flickr.
