Tonight Bushey Sensei had me teaching two of the newer students the first four kata of Shoden Seiza No Bu. This time around I felt very confident and did a decent job of articulating what was going on within the kata. We would work the kata, then I would show them the bunkai, and lastly work the empty hand application. The new students did very well. They asked a lot of questions and I didn't have to dig in the back of my mind to find the answers, I just knew them. I think I am slowly getting better at the teaching aspect of martial arts.
This Saturday we will have wara and are going to do some tameshigiri. I will bring my camera and hopefully get some good pictures/video to share with you all.
I am one of the new students (Yung) and I just wanted to say thank you for your patience with me. Sometimes I feel a little lost! This is only my 4th class and I really appreciate going over the kata in such meticulous detail. The application tie-in really helped too in solidifying my understanding of each move. You are an excellent teacher. :) Domo arigato!
