We had a great class on Saturday. Besides tameshigiri, Gary and I fought in armor with tire obstacles. The tires were laid on a field and were all sorts of sizes from huge tracker tires to small car tires. We were both able to use the tires in different ways for our advantage. It was awesome and I look forward to it next Saturday.
Here are the tameshigiri pictures:
Gary's wins the the meanest tameshigiri face award!
Sean is doing a variation of nukiuchi that involves a kiriage.
I love how you can see James splitting the wara in this picture.
This was probably one of Sean's best cuts. He is doing the kata kesagiri, which is one of my favorite kata.
All I can say is imagine the wara / wara stand as a horse. Mr. Luna would have landed a tsuki to the Jugular.
Some of you may be wondering where the tameshigiri pictures of me are... well Bushey Sensei had me leading class, which was a great learning experience. I was in charge of safety and showing everyone how to fully break down and clean their shinken. No one was injured, so I think my first tameshigiri class went pretty well!
